POEM of THE MONTH AUGUST

HOLIDAY

Holiday Leesa Wallace

I've waited all year long
To get some time away
And worked for days on end
To make sure I can pay

Now it's finally here
And I can have some fun
I pack up all my stuff
And head off to the sun

All the family get ready
To fly throughout the night
We're jet lagged and exhausted
When we get off the flight.

Now we must have fun
Even though we're just too tired
Our vacation's just begun
But we feel like we've expired

The hotel window rattles
I've jammed it with a spoon
The maid wakes us at eight
Although we'd rather sleep 'til noon

The bathroom tap is jammed
And the sink water is green
The pool is overcrowded
And the drink prices obscene

The beach is full of junk
screaming kids are everywhere
"Can I go home early?"
I wonder in despair.
